Collegiate Recovery Support

A bridge between early recovery and higher education

Returning to college while entering recovery can be overwhelming. Academic pressure, social environments, identity shifts, and substance-saturated campus culture can destabilize even strong recovery foundations if not navigated intentionally.

I offer individualized collegiate recovery support as a supplement to my alternative recovery program, designed for people who want to pursue higher education without sacrificing their recovery.

This work focuses on stability, preparation, and sustainability — not just getting back into school, but staying grounded once you’re there.

How I support the transition into college & recovery

Early recovery stabilization

  • Clarifying recovery goals alongside academic goals

  • Establishing routines that support nervous system regulation

  • Identifying relapse risks specific to academic environments

  • Building accountability structures before stress escalates

Preparation for college re-entry

  • Assessing readiness for coursework and course load

  • Planning realistic timelines for return

  • Exploring accommodations or reduced credit options when appropriate

  • Preparing for changes in identity, autonomy, and structure

Navigating campus life in recovery

  • Managing exposure to substance-centered social environments

  • Developing boundaries around peers, housing, and social pressure

  • Identifying safe spaces and support resources on or near campus

  • Addressing shame, comparison, or isolation common in college recovery

Ongoing support during the academic term

  • Stress management during exams and deadlines

  • Adjusting recovery plans as academic demands fluctuate

  • Processing setbacks without catastrophizing or self-abandonment

  • Maintaining recovery momentum while building academic confidence

This is not a generic collegiate recovery program or a campus-based model.

My approach is:

  • Individualized, not one-size-fits-all

  • Recovery-first, not productivity-driven

  • Grounded in lived experience, not just policy or theory

  • Designed to reduce overwhelm rather than push unrealistic performance

I work with a limited number of clients so that support remains personal, steady, and responsive — especially during vulnerable transition periods.
